The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, LLC (NASCAR) is an American auto racing sanctioning and operating company best known for stock car racing. Bill France Sr. founded it on February 21, 1948, after a series of meetings at the Streamline Hotel in Daytona Beach, Florida.

NASCAR sanctions more than 1,500 races a year at over 100 tracks. Its current logo, introduced for the 2017 season, uses the red, yellow and blue of earlier marks together with slanted racing bars and the NASCAR wordmark.

1948: NASCAR is founded on February 21.
1976: NASCAR adopts the bar mark it would use for four decades.
2016: on December 19, NASCAR unveils a new brand mark, the fifth in its history, replacing the 1976 bar mark from 2017. It borrows the red, yellow and blue of the first three marks and the racing bars of the 1976 mark.
