Spotify is a Swedish music streaming service provider founded in April 2006 by Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon in Stockholm. As of March 2026 it had more than 788 million monthly active users, including 306 million paying subscribers, and its catalog includes over 100 million songs, 8 million podcast titles and 800,000 audiobook titles.

Spotify was conceived as a legal alternative to music piracy. The service launched in several European markets in October 2008 and in the United States in July 2011, and as of December 2022 it was available in 184 markets. During the 2010s it grew from a music streaming service into a broader audio platform with podcasts and audiobooks. Spotify became publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange in April 2018 through a direct public offering. The service is free with advertising, and paid subscriptions add features such as offline and commercial free listening. The logo is a green circle with three curved bars cut out of it, beside the name Spotify in green letters.

On May 22, 2024 Spotify introduced Spotify Mix, a bespoke variable sans serif typeface made with the Berlin foundry Dinamo Typefaces, for its app, desktop and marketing. The announcement does not say which typeface is used in the logo.
