Figma is a collaborative, web based application for user interface design, used to design mobile apps, websites and illustrations. It is the product of Figma, Inc., which Dylan Field and Evan Wallace founded in 2012 after starting work on it while studying computer science at Brown University.
Figma opened a free invite only preview on December 3, 2015, and had its first public release on September 27, 2016. A planned acquisition by Adobe, announced in September 2022, was abandoned in December 2023. Figma went public on the New York Stock Exchange on July 31, 2025, under the ticker FIG. The logo is built from five rounded shapes in red orange, salmon, purple, blue and green that together form a stylized letter F.
