Aptiv traces its roots to the Automotive Components Group of General Motors, set up in 1994 and renamed Delphi Automotive Systems in 1995. General Motors completed the spinoff of the company in May 1999. Delphi filed for bankruptcy protection in October 2005, exited it in October 2009, and became a public company again through an initial public offering in November 2011. In December 2017 it completed the spinoff of its powertrain and aftermarket businesses as Delphi Technologies and was renamed Aptiv. In 2025 its products were used in 18 of the 20 best selling vehicle models in the United States. The logo is the name APTIV in widely spaced black capital letters, set between two orange dots.
