Xylem Inc. is an American water technology company headquartered in Washington, DC. It serves public utility, industrial, commercial, agricultural and residential customers in more than 150 countries, and its brands include Flygt pumps, Goulds Water Technology and the water quality instrument maker YSI.
ITT Corporation announced on January 12, 2011, that it would split into three independent public companies, and its water businesses became Xylem, pronounced zi lem. The name comes from classical Greek and refers to the tissue that carries water in plants. Xylem completed its spinoff from ITT on October 31, 2011, and trades on the New York Stock Exchange as XYL. In May 2023 it completed the acquisition of Evoqua Water Technologies in an all stock deal valued at $7.5 billion, and in 2024 it reported revenue of $8.6 billion with about 23,000 employees. The logo is the word xylem in lowercase letters that shade from teal to blue.
