Nickelodeon is an American children’s cable channel and the flagship of the Nickelodeon Group, now within Skydance. It began as a test broadcast on QUBE in Columbus, Ohio, on December 1, 1977, and launched nationwide under the Nickelodeon name on April 1, 1979.
The network is famous for its orange splat logo, which it used in many outlines from 1984 to 2009. The Kids’ Choice Awards still hand out an orange blimp, one of those outlines. The current logo, introduced on March 4, 2023, brings the splat back.
