TransDigm Group Incorporated is an American aerospace manufacturing company headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. It develops and manufactures engineered aerospace components, and it has expanded its range of products largely by acquiring other aerospace component makers.
TransDigm was formed in 1993 as TD Holding Corporation by W. Nicholas Howley and Douglas Peacock, together with the private equity firm Kelso & Company, to buy four industrial aerospace companies from IMO Industries in a leveraged buyout: Adel Fasteners, Aero Products Component Services, Controlex Corporation and Wiggins Connectors. Once those deals closed, TD Holding was renamed TransDigm, Inc. The company went public on the New York Stock Exchange in 2006 and trades as TDG. The logo shows the word TRANS in bold blue italic capitals and DIGM in light gray, with GROUP INC. in blue below.
